Shani sat at the table in the main area of the fire house nursing a cup of coffee. It was a day shift which was nice but it required a certain level of sleep for it to be good and getting back to a routine after night shifts was stressful. She was awake until the early hours and then a few hours sleep on and off before she was up again and out the door for another day. The kids were off to school and Jason was working which meant that she lived by her mobile phone and any call involving the police she would ask for a car number or an officer’s name. It was her worst nightmare but the call that came was simple enough from the dispatcher. “Another call out.” She groaned. It was shaping up to be one of those days where a person in the house had said that word, yes ‘quiet’. It had been mentioned and now this was their fourth call out that shift though this time it was just ambulance 58. The siren had blared and now Shani had jumped into the driver’s seat yet again after dumping her fresh cup of coffee on the table. A reheat when she got back for sure but it was their job and they were going no matter what. What was wrong with people today, she swore if this was another paper cut or fake flu call she would hit someone. This call was to do with a patient in severe distress on thirty fourth and Maple. It was a quick enough route and would probably take a little less time if she managed to get her foot to the floor which she loved to do on her best days. Shani sat at the wheel as she double checked the address with dispatch before they headed out. -------- Notes: Only request is that Catherine Davidson posts first. Then after that no posting order. They were back at house 23 after fifty one had decided to bounce them out again. What did Hudson have against Shani anyway? It bothered Cat to no end, or was that genius of a medic the reason they were back at 23? She had no idea. Whatever it was they were back with their old group and the rivalry between Amb 58 and 61 would continue. "Who cursed us today?" Oh right Clarke had told them it was a quiet day for the house. Except the ambulance. As soon as they parked they were back off again. To the point that Catherine hadn't even bothered to do much other than grab food. Watching her partner dump her coffee on the table she knew the other woman was frustrated. "You alright for this?“ Catherine was stressed herself as they pulled out of the ambulance bay. Though it felt like as soon as they got off and moving again that Catherine was screaming. "LOOK OUT!" it wasn't Shani that needed to look out but the other vehicle. Catherine's heart was racing as the ambulance rolled. Head smacking into the back of the seat yeah owwwww that was going to hurt. Though whatever hit them was stuck as the driver got out and took off running. "Ambulance 58 to dispatch. Another vehicle collision with this Ambulance. Suspect fleeing the scene" she took her button off the radio. "Shani!!" she called as she waited on dispatch to handle the call. Grabbing the radio she spoke again. "I need multiple ambulances dispatched to this location" she rambled off the street name. Chloe happened to be walking by the main radio when she heard ambo 58's call to dispatch and quickly got an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach. Something about the other medics tone when she said that she needed multiple ambulances dispatched to the scene made Chloe really take notice. Nobody ever likes to work a call on one of their own.
"Hey..um does anybody know if this will be us?" She asked not wanting to take any chances she headed towards the rig to be ready if and when the tones did drop.

Wallace had been in his office working out who was working with whom for the shift when he heard the call from dispatch. His radio came to life before he had managed to push himself from behind his desk as he grabbed his jacket and charged from the desk area and out into the main rooms. He heard the call from dispatch for another house to talk the original call followed by a stand down order for fifty one. Yeah right, no chance he thought.
“Chief Boden, fifty one responding to the vehicle collision.” He stated firmly into his radio knowing he would hear about it later but right then. He simply didnt care about it, his people were hurt and his people would go and get them no matter what. It was a matter of pride and a matter of family that he was sure every other person in the house would understand.
Wallace hadn’t even spoken to anyone else when the siren sounded in the fire house before the mechanical voice relayed the information. “Vehicle collision, Ambulance 58 involved in collision. Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 74, Ambulance 24, Ambulace 61.” The street name was added as Wallace heard Chloe’s voice.
“It’s our people out there, yes this is us. Gear up.” He stated firmly not caring to look around to see who was there as he headed toward his truck. “Let’s move it people!” He bellowed, this was fire house family and even if they weren’t supposed to go this was their family, their scene and their people going to run it. He wasn’t about to let any other fire house deal with his people, not this time. Wallace was protective of the people he worked alongside and despite the fact that Ambulance 58 was bounced from place to place.
There was nothing going to change his mind about their house talking the call. No backing off and no backing out of it as he flicked on his lights and put his foot down. The call for multiple ambulances was bad enough without the mention of his people involved in it. The worst calls were the known ones, the ones where the faces weren’t strangers anymore they were the people you ate lunch with hours ago or mere minutes. Those were the ones that stayed forever. "Gotcha Chief" Chloe called over her shoulder as hopped in the ambo and waited on her partner to get behind the wheel. The way the chief had reacted..made her take pause and realize how lucky she was to have this man as her chief..he obviously cared very deeply for his people.
She quickly switched gears and began mentally preparing herself for the call; because as timid, and shy as she was outside of the ambulance...she was even more confident in her skills, abilities, and judgement in the back of an ambulance.
The sick feeling in the pit of her stomach was still there, because not only were they going to have to treat the two medics on the truck and anyone else involved in that collision (if they could locate them) someone was going to have to cover the original call. Calls like this sucked for a multitude of reasons...

CHARACTER NAME Elizabeth was chilling out in the locker rooms truth be told last night was a rough one on her though most nights were rough on her if she was to be honest. Lizzy only wanted to go home and call the shit a day but that wasn't going to happen any time soon. She could still remember how her last night went the partying and women chasing wasn't the problem well not one that was on her mind. Amber was in a mood and when she got going Lizzy was the one who had to hear about it. Lizzy had her own problems and loved Amber to bits but some nights she wished she had her own apartment. Lizzy got up reaching for her bag grabbing a pill bottle and popped two pills before screwing the cap back on about to place the container back into the locker where she heard the call over the radio. Lizzy sighed shaking her head swallowing the pills ad placing the bottle in her pocket closing the locker and ran towards the ambulance. It seemed Chloe was already there and the Chief was on his way out. Lizzy always hated these calls sure every call had it's risks but these were people like her land her sister. Lizzy took in a deep breath hoping she could keep it together till the pills brought her back to some normalcy. Lizzy took her seat in the ambulance nodding to Chloe as she started the ambulance and sirens. "Chloe hold on because I'm known to be little heavy on the gas though no accidents on my record." Lizzy stated then turned her forces to the road pulling out of the station and past the chiefs truck at a fast pace . Sure Lizzy didn't know who these people were and she was new but that wasn't a concern to her this was her job and from what she heard Ambulance 58 had some meaning to her current Firehouse and that must have been eaten Boden just like her own thing ate her up. After several minutes of hanging on for dear life; Chloe and Lizzy in ambo 74 are the first on scene, having lost the rest of the responding units several blocks ago. Upon arrival Chloe assesses the scene for any safety risks. “Lizzy, I need you to do a quick look around and make sure that our missing driver isn’t somewhere close.” She makes a sweeping gesture to indicate the immediate area surrounding the scene.
Taking a deep breath and getting her thoughts together, she keys her radio. “Ambo 74 to main and all other responding units, we have a two vehicle roll over collision involving ambo 58 both vehicles are still in the intersection. I need PD here ASAP to help with crowd and traffic control. I also need one fire unit to approach this scene from the north and another from the west to help divert traffic the best we can while waiting on PD. I don't see any fuel leaks at this time, but the ambo is unsteady and has come to rest on the pedestrian bridge. Will need squad to stabilize the truck and help with extrication before I can truly assess the patients. The next ambo to arrive on scene I need you to bring your stretcher and equipment as close to Ambo 58 as you can it appears we will have two patients in this vehicle. We are still searching the immediate area for the missing driver.” Taking another deep breath and praying he’s already here she continues “Chief what’s your eta?”
Making her way to the Ambo Chloe carefully climbs up and sticks her head in the window the best she can. “Hello in there…My name is Chloe, can either of you talk to me? We’re going to get you out of there as soon as we can.”
“Lizzy! If you haven’t found the other driver by now go ahead and grab our bags, stretcher, backboard, and c collars. We'll need them when we can get to these two!” Chloe directs her partner.

Stephanie heard the call out. Great. Just what they needed on the start of their day. She was not thrilled that she had been on the roof when the alarm went off right in her ear. Drills and their promiximity to the alarm was... deafening on the best of days. She came down from the roof as quickly as possible. Terrible call to have with the interim Lt. for Truck, then again Severide was also on time off that left a nice hole in the command chain today.
When Squad 3 got to the ambulance she saw the medics were already there. "Don't move them" she cautioned. There was no way they were going to be able to get the medics out without the ambulance just rolling into the icy water below the bridge where it had slid during the crash. "We need to secure the vehicle. We wait for instructions" she had no idea what the injuries were like inside as she couldn't see into the vehicle.
Stephanie started moving, she was a quick mover. All she could see in her head was the flipped over firetruck. No. She had to put her head on. Moving past that now. "Are we tying this ambulance down or do we think it is safe to cut them out without that chief?" Maybe there was another option but either way the ambulance was in pretty rough shape.

At least it was daylight he thought hearing the alarm as he made it down from the roof. Start of their day and Ben was awake and loving life as usual, that was until he understood what and who the call was for. An interim Lieutenant and their own people in an accident. Oh this was going to be one of the worst days he thought as he climbed into the truck.
When they arrived the medics were there already, was driving like a mad person a requirement for being a Medic? Then again Dawson was enough to answer that question for him, like more insane drivers were needed for the city. The scene was bad enough without it being a bridge and water, what was this more bad karma for them house? Ben set about getting the different ropes and straps out, it was one of two options he could see but then Stephanie said it, Chief’s choice for this one.
Ben was used to seeing cars, trucks even lorries in a bad way but emergency vehicles. No that was always bad, the helpers needed to be helped. If ever there was as scene to screw with your head as he remembered pulling Stephanie out of the Truck when it had taken a hit. It truly was a bad day to be on the good side of things. He only hoped that the two medics were alright and better yet alive because losing anyone was never an option. It had been Peter and Stephanie not so long ago and that was terrifying.
When Ben looked over at Stephanie she seemed to be out of it for a moment, he gave her a look though he tried not to alert anyone's attention to it. He knew the chief's mind would be elsewhere as he moved to stand next to Stephanie. He leaned lightly over to her, "Steph, everything alright?" He asked quietly so only she could hear as he lightly place a hand on her should for a brief moment hoping to snap her back from wherever her head was.
Ben stood next to Stephanie trying not to hover but he needed the Chief to tell them what to do, which things would be needed and what their options were. Cutting them out was going to happen but he just hoped it was before anything started to slide or move toward the water. Water rescues were never great and time wise for the victims an icy cold blast might just send them into shock which was bad enough in itself.

It was like a game of ping pong with them, house fifty one, house twenty three if they introduced them to another house she was going to get a headache of where she was supposed to turn up in a morning. Working with Hudson, no it made twenty three the perfect home for them because there were no egos and hurt feelings. The man was, annoying to say the least and she was still surprised he had a partner to stick with him. Shani rolled her eyes when Catherine asked who had cursed them, Clarke had a lot to answer for in her head.
Shani felt like making it a rule, anyone that said quiet needed to be strapped to the top of a fire truck and driven around like crazy until they thought twice before even entering it into a conversation. It was as simple as that. “Yeah I’m alright, someone needs to teach those fire monkeys what language to speak before they speak it.” She said hearing one of them mutter something. “Al ta’atzben otti!” She snapped back at them though she knew they would never understand it. General terms it started with the word don’t and ended with off.
As Catherine screamed Shani tried to do all she could, break, steering, accelerator and still there was no avoiding it. Shani could feel herself twist in her seat, the side of her head hit something hard and then when she finally felt the world stop moving she could see someone running off. Shani reached up to the side of her head feeling the warmth of blood that now covered her hand. Her ears could hear a voice, dispatch and collision and then her name. Taking a moment Shani could feel her other hand gripping the steering wheel.
“CATHERINE! Catherine!” Shani yelled not sure if they were upside down, on their side or what as her vision was blurry. Shani tried to move though she felt pinned she guessed by the steering wheel or column or a combination as she reached out her hand in where the thought Catherine should be. “You okay? Talk to me? You hurt?” She fired off trying to focus and not panic which was hardly going well for her at all. Shani seemed to be there and not as she heard another voice, they were going to be out of there as soon as. That was their line, what was going on she wondered as she tried to fight against her seat belt and something that held her in place.

"No no...STOP moving...you need to stop!!" Chloe spoke loudly and as calmly as she could so that the other medics would hear her reassuring tone. "I need you to be as still as you can. Please be still, because the three of us...well we're in a bad spot right now and if you move too much we're all going to end up in that ice cold water down there...and I didn't plan on going for a swim this morning. Talk to me, can you give me a run down on your injuries?"
Chloe keys up her radio speaking quietly, "Unless someone wants to go swimming today they need to secure this Ambo...as quick as they can, it's feeling really unstable.."

Lizzy didn't know what she was expecting but what was before her eyes when Chloe and her arrived on scene was far worse then anything she could have thought up in her head. Though she had a job to do and Chloe was indeed reminding her of that fact. Lizzy took off in search for the driver that had so recklessly collided in with the ambulance she didn't know how anyone could be so reckless ad not watch were they were going. Lizzy approached the vehicle sadly it seemed the driver had taken off though she doubted he get too far after causing this accident though she could detect a heavy smell and rolled her eyes. Of course alcohol had to be involved it couldn't be a simple misunderstanding an simply accident. Though she was about to call it in when she heard Chloe's voice ring over her radio . Lizzy moved back to the ambulance retrieving what Chloe had requested though taking few trips to get it all their. Lizzy was in fit condition but bags, stretcher, backboard and collars couldn't be taken all by one person but now was not the time to be thinking this way. Right now all that matter was making sure the medics were okay and that ambulance didn't fall into the icy water lucky squad showed up and seeming to be tacking over instructions. Lizzy never had great relations with her previous squad and truck at her previous firehouse they seemed to be obnoxious though she didn't judge all firefighters simply on the actions of others. Lizzy nodded to Stephanie making sure she knew her words hadn't gone unheard . Lizzy took her attention away from Ben and Stephanie and turned her attention back to Chloe and the medics moving closer and up to where Chloe was carefully setting her bag down as she took out a flashlight pointing it at the injured medics. "Hey are you all right down there? " Lizzy looked at Chloe . "Couldn't find the driver he must have taken off and after smelling what I did he has good reason to."

I thought your shift wasn't over for a few hours..""That is what I thought but since they once again switched everyone up, they got my schedule mixed up with someone else." "That sucks, so what are you doing now? Tiff has dinner in the slow cooker and I am sure there is enough so you're welcome to come by." Food was always a good way to get Peters attention, food and..females. And his sister in laws cooking was great, "Ellie would love to see you." James added, Peter glanced down at his watch then back out the front window of his truck, he had time and could stop by but he also needed to get through the mess of traffic to get to his house so he could take care of some things. "I'll take a rain check on dinner, tell Ellie I need her to teach me how to play cards again." Peters response got a chuckle from his brother, he could see James shaking his head, "She is currently cleaning up her mess of stuffed animals, but I will tell her." "And give JJ a hug for me, I'll talk to ya'll later." With the call ended Peter tossed his phone down into the seat beside him and started driving. Then traffic came to a dead stop. He sat for several minutes, mindlessly drumming his fingers on the steering wheel while humming along to the radio, "I aaaaaaaaammm.."he quickly hit the steering wheel twice, "Hooked on a feeling...high on believin'.." he sang softly to himself. Another few minutes went by and he started wondering why traffic was still not moving, the light had changed several times already and yet nothing. He saw someone walk down the street past his truck, Peter quickly rolled down his window and stuck his head out, "Any idea what is holding this up?" he asked, the guy glanced back to the intersection then to Peter, "Looks like someone hit something, there is an ambulance on its side." The guy kept talking, but Peter was already rolling up his window, throwing his truck into gear he hit the gas and drove up onto the sidewalk and then quickly turned down a small alley where his car barely fit, but at least it was off the street. Squeezing out of the door he grabbed his phone and slammed the door shut, stepping back out onto the street he looked towards where the source of the deadlock was and started running. An ambulance on its side was never a good thing. His doctors were still keeping an eye on his leg since it was crushed, and they had told him to be careful with any strenuous exercise. At first he thought he was doing okay but the closer he got to the wreck the more and more the dull ache began to grow. But he quickly forgot all about it when he saw the accident scene and how close the ambulance was to the water...and when his eyes saw the number on the side his stomach dropped. Peter took off running again, the police officers who were moving bystanders away let him pass after seeing his uniform. Peter quickly looked around for anyone he recognized and the first face, well back he saw happened to have HARRIS on it in large letters, so that was who he went to. "Steph, where is Cat?" he asked as he came up beside his sister, Peter turned around, hoping to see the woman in question somewhere among the emergency personal on the scene. "Is she still in there?" he asked as he turned back to Stephanie. Chloe feels like she is still altogether too close to plunging off the bridge with the unsteady ambulance for her liking, but she got herself stuck in this position in the first place. Plus she IS close to if not the smallest one on scene making it easier for her to get farther into the truck window and better assess the two patients inside she leans a little further in the window to take a better look at the trucks occupants. Wondering what on earth is taking so long, these are their people, but she sets back to providing the best care she can given the circumstances.

"Ambulance 58 to dispatch. Another vehicle collision with this Ambulance. Suspect fleeing the scene" "I need multiple ambulances dispatched to this location" “Chief Boden, fifty one responding to the vehicle collision.”
“Vehicle collision, Ambulance 58 involved in collision. Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 74, Ambulance 24, Ambulace 61.”Sal was resting in a corner quietly at the firehouse when she heard her radio and the sirens go off, jumping up she grabbed the radio from the table as she made a run for it out of the room “Truck 81 responding!” she managed to shout into it. Placing the radio on a bench as she arrived where the gear was she geared up, thankfully she’d put her normal uniform on so only needed to get the main gear on which for her didn’t take long, because her father had instilled that in her and her brother long ago, you could say her dad had prepared them for these things enough that speed was natural to her - once done she clipped the radio to her jacket and ran for the trucks, jumping in with the rest of the team she settled in and strapped up, holding on tight. The next ambo to arrive on scene I need you to bring your stretcher and equipment as close to Ambo 58 as you can it appears we will have two patients in this vehicle. We are still searching the immediate area for the missing driver.” “Chief what’s your eta?”
Sal decided listening to the radio carefully would be in order, knowing as much as you could was a good idea right now - but decided against interfering with the radio dialogue, she didn’t want to disrupt the radio chatter. "Unless someone wants to go swimming today they need to secure this Ambo...as quick as they can, it's feeling really unstable.." Wincing Sal shook her head, as they drew nearer she could see there was a LOT of traffic - as they arrived she fought the urge to stop, the sight of the ambulance on it’s side screamed at her “Hey!” she called out to the nearest Firefighter or whoever “Where do you want me?” she asked, on her shoulder she held her backpack full of gear whilst on her other arm she held whatever gear she might need - oh she was prepared.
